Build Your Kingdom Here

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Happy 90th Birthday, Don Anderson!
This past Friday was Rev. Dr. Donald Anderson’s 90th birthday.  In knowing this milestone was coming I wanted to do something to honor him.  I realize there have been others at Olivet who too have reached this milestone, but with Don’s history, being such an instrumental, integral part of the church, singling him out seemed appropriate.  Don was the Senior pastor here at Olivet from 1978 to 1990 and has remained actively involved contributing to the work and life of the church. His prayer letter, that he does every week, is such a blessing and vital ministry of Olivet. I asked Don for his favorite hymn, which is “Jesus Saviour, Pilot me” The original plan was to sing this together and pray over him but we had to alter our plans. The hymn is here for you to enjoy.  Don shared “the line that sparkles when I hum it is ‘Chart and Compass come from Thee’ a necessary daily reminder in my life!”

Heavenly Father we thank you so much for Don and ask for your hand of blessing upon him.  We are so grateful to have him in our lives.  You have gifted him in so many respects and he has impacted many lives for your kingdom.  Thank you for leading and guiding him throughout his life.  I pray you would let him know how loved and cherished he is.  Bless and protect him, may he know your strength at the start of each day and your comfort and rest at the end of each day.  Fill his future with hope, joy, and peace.  We rejoice in the blessing of his life and the many years this birthday marks. May your loving presence be felt strongly on this day and every day.  In your gracious name Jesus.  Amen.

“The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
